Pause

“Pause” is a contemporary dance film mimicking the abrupt stop in normal life due to COVID-19. Five local dancers complete movements with forced, spontaneous pauses scattered throughout their dances. They attempt to continue without knowing when they will be required to stop next. Filmed at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Center and the Pilgrim Chapel Butterfly Garden in Kansas City, Missouri using social distance guidelines. The project received the Charlotte Street Foundation’s grant “Art Where You’re At: Socially-Distanced Art Projects” in the Summer of 2020.

The project is filmed and edited by Elizabeth Stehling. The original musical score is by Stacy Busch. Participating dancers are Joshua Bodden, Haley Kostas, Kyle Mullins, Jennifer Owen, and Irene Vallar.
